The Punjab government has decided on the largest restructuring in the history of its ministries and departments, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Sunday.
According to the channel, the Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the restructuring plan, which aims to simplify and expedite public service delivery while improving institutional performance.
The channel reported that the government has made a plan to downsize redundant, ineffective, and loss-making institutions in the province to overcome the financial burden.
The channel said the government has also planned to merge the departments which are overlapping functions. The goal is to streamline government operations and enhance efficiency. By reducing the size of ministries, it will be made easier to carry out government affairs.
This restructuring and downsizing are expected to save billions of rupees, significantly reduce the government's annual expenses, and create financial leeway.
