20 die as passenger van falls into ravine near Skardu

As many as 20 people lost their lives when a passenger coaster fell into a deep ravine in Rondu tehsil of Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday.
According to the Gilgit-Baltistan government spokesperson, 25 passengers were travelling in the vehicle from Rawalpindi to Skardu when the accident happened.
“Five people sustained injuries while a rescue operation is underway,” the spokesperson said.
In a similar unfortunate accident on Sunday, nine people were killed and 12 others were injured when a passenger bus fell into a nullah in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Arja area.
Police said that the passenger bus fell into the nullah while taking a sharp turn in Arja area of AJK.
Earlier on December 30, a bus full of passengers had met with an unfortunate accident while travelling from Gujrat to Sialkot, the crash site had been determined to be near the area of Wazirabad.
