An army colonel embraced martyrdom and two high-profile terrorists were killed as security forces carried out an operation near Tank, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday.
The terrorists’ hideouts were targeted on basis of intelligence information that they were planning a sabotage activity in Dera Ismail Khan, it added.
A large quantity of arms and ammunition, as well as communication equipment, was also seized during the operation, said the military’s media wing.
According to the ISPR, Col Mujib-ur-Rehman was martyred as the terrorists opened fire on the raiding party.
Col Mujib had left behind a widow, three sons and a daughter. He belonged to the Bunji area of Astore, Gilgit Baltistan.
