PM Imran, Shibli Faraz discuss Digital Advertising Policy

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz, Prime Minister’s Digital Media Focal Person Dr Arsalan Khalid and Digital Media Wing General Manager Imran Gazali called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Monday. 

During the meeting, Shibli Faraz briefed the prime minister about the Digital Advertising Policy drafted by the Federal Ministry for Information and Broadcasting. The prime minister was informed that Pakistan has 93 million internet users at this moment and the number is increasing with the every passing day. He said the Digital Advertising Policy has been prepared keeping in view this growing number of internet users in Pakistan. Currently, the federal government has no policy on digital media advertisement. After its approval, it will be the first such policy in Pakistan’s history under which the government of Pakistan would be able to do its publicity on the digital and social media platforms through the Federal Ministry for Information and Broadcasting. 

The prime minister was informed on Monday that the digital media industry in Pakistan was spreading quickly and this policy would encourage digital platforms and publishers and boost the Pakistani economy. Endorsement of digital media would make the corporate sector use the digital media for their advertising campaigns. 

Briefing the prime minister about the digital media development programme, Dr Arsalan Khalid said this multipurpose programme would ensure growth of the digital media in Pakistan and promote digital education at the grassroots. The prime minister was informed that the PMDP programme would bridge the gap among students, the federal government of Pakistan and the digital media and secure a safe future for the digital media.
