Amidst the fast-changing political scenario, PML-N President Mian Shehbaz Sharif has sought cooperation from the Jamaat-i-Islami on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He sought the JI cooperation in a meeting with the party Amir Sirajul Haq in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The meeting came amid a flurry of political maneuvering in Islamabad after the joint Opposition had tabled a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday.
The meeting between Shehbaz Sharif and Sirajul Haq was held at Mian Aslam’s residence in Islamabad.
According to sources, Shehbaz Sharif took Sirajul Haq into confidence regarding the Opposition’s no-trust motion against the prime minister.
While talking to the media along with Sirajul Haq after their meeting, Opposition leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz resolved that they would go to the public again after removing the PTI government in a constitutional manner. He said no-confidence move against the ‘selected’ was not the whim of an individual.
He said the PML-N decisions were taken by its supremo Nawaz Sharif. “We will accept whatever decision he will take,” Shehbaz added.
Though apparently favouring opposition’s no-confidence motion against PM Khan, the JI Amir said that his party wanted a change in the system as the change of persons was not the solution to the problem.
Talking to the media, Sirajul Haq said that there was no denying the fact that the government had totally failed. “The economy has sunk and government is levying tax on every morsel of bread,” he added.
The head of the religious party opined that mere change of faces was no solution to the problem, as system needed an overhaul. He was of the view that implementation of Allah’s system would do well for this country. He said he suggested to Shehbaz to consult the public, demanding that for new mandate, transparent elections should be held in the country.
He hoped that the new government with new mandate could resolve the issue. He revealed that he had informed Shehbaz about his suggestions to which the latter was agreed to some extent.
The JI chief said that he would summon his party’s Shura meeting to deliberate on the proposals put forward by Shehbaz Sharif.
