PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan has decided to ignore the call-up notice sent by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) asking him to appear before it today in connection with Toshakhana investigation, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The NAB has summoned Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi at 2:30 pm today for investigation at its Rawalpindi office.
In the call-up notice, the PTI chairman has been directed to appear before the joint investigation team of the NAB.
The summon notices had been issued to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi on February 17 last.
The PTI chief, however, was still at his residence in Lahore’s Zaman Park well after the 2:30 pm deadline passed. Imran Khan held meetings with the PTI leaders.
A four-member NAB team, led by Director Rizwan Ahmad, had met recently with Umar Farooq Zahoor, the man who had purchased the watch from Imran Khan gifted to him by Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman, in Dubai.
Zahoor took the NAB team to the Pakistan consulate general in Dubai and showed him the watch.
The team had also visited the store which not only confirmed that the watch was genuine but also that its price could not be determined.
On the other hand, Zahoor’s lawyer had confirmed the NAB team’s meeting with his client and assured complete cooperation.
Sources in the Pakistani consulate told 24News TV channel that Zahoor, after talking to the bureau team, also signed the documents, while sources in the NAB said that the team had also recorded the statement of Shafiq, Arts & Time owner, who had confirmed that the receipt of the watch deposited in the ‘Toshakhana’ was fake.
Last year, Umar Farooq Zahoor had revealed that the watch, which had been gifted to Imran, and whose actual price was Rs280 million had been sold at $2 million. Sources further disclosed that besides watch, Zahoor also showed to the team receipts of other things he had purchased from the former premier and other proofs.
Zahoor had already appeared before the NAB team in Islamabad.
The bureau has also summoned Bushra Bibi, wife of Imran, and PTI leaders to give their testimonies in the case.
Imran and his spouse have denied any wrongdoing.
