Five employees of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Quetta Region have been tested positive for coronavirus, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The PIA GM Medical has also confirmed the news of the five employees.

A total of 22 staff members of the PIA Quetta Region underwent coronavirus test, five of them were turned out to be positive. Their treatment has immediately started as per the SOPs of the airlines.

Just recently, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has donated protective medical equipment worth 100,000 dollars to the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

The donation included protective suits, masks and goggles which the crew members of the airlines will use while operating special flights.

PIA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Air Marshal Arshad Malik expressed special thanks to NDMA Chairman Muhammad Afzal for donating these equipment. The national carrier is working responsibly to play its part to fight the pandemic, he assured.

Arshad Malik said the donated equipment will certainly help the PIA in making its staff and passengers more safe.
