Coronavirus has infected another doctor in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the president of Young Doctors Association (YDA) provincial chapter also tested positive for the virus, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.
The news came as more and more healthcare professionals are being tested for the coronavirus across the country as Dr Rizwan Kundi said he had opted for the test after experiencing fever.
The province is witnessing a very high rate of infection among the healthcare professionals despite having the PTI-led government since 2013. The party is known for the promises more resources of health and education sectors.
Last month, a senior doctor diedDr Prof Muhammad Javed died in Peshawar. He was being treated at the isolation centre of Hayatabad Medical Complex as he had been diagnosed with the virus 15 days ago. He breathed his last after remaining on a ventilator for several days.
The deceased doctor was working in the ENT Department of Hayatabad Medical Complex.
And Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also tops the list when it comes to the deaths caused by the pandemic. In fact, it is far ahead of any other province with 221 people dying so far. The number of confirmed cases in the province currently stands at 4,327.
Meanwhile, several lawmakers have also been diagnosed with the virus in province, including senior politician Munir Orakzai who is a MNA.
The last such case was reported on Thursday when Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Housing Minister Dr Amjad Ali tested positive for the virus.
