November 9, 2020 11:30 PM

The 2021 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships have been moved from Copenhagen to Kitakyushu in Japan and will be held in October, the sport's governing body has announced.

Kitakyushu will also host the rhythmic gymnastics worlds in October next year, and in a statement the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) said that "the exact dates of the two events will be confirmed soon".

Danish capital Copenhagen decided to pull out of hosting the 2021 artistic worlds in July, with no reason given by the FIG for the Danish Federation's decision.
