Shehbaz girds up his loins to give tough time to govt

PML-N President and Opposition leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has become active to give tough time to the government by expediting his contacts with the opposition leaders and members to fizzle out the government plan to railroad legislation from parliament on majority basis, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sources revealed on Tuesday that the PML-N president spurred his efforts to frustrate government plan to bulldoze bills from parliament on majority basis. He is making contacts with the opposition leaders and has formed two parliamentary committees of the opposition in this regard, sources added.

According to sources, the separate meetings of both the committees regarding to devising protest strategy and a constitutional way to halt the government process of legislation would be held consecutively. 

Opposition leader Shehbaz will hold a dinner tonight in honour of opposition parties’ members in the national and provincial assemblies at the Banquet Hall of Parliament House. Both the committees will come into action even before the dinner. 

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asad Mehmood, Amir Haider Hoti and other parliamentary leaders of the opposition parties would participate in the dinner. 

The opposition leaders will deliberate on a joint strategy to impede government legislation process in both the upper and lower houses. 

The protest committee will point to the quorum in the parliament and chalk out a protest strategy. 

Whereas, the opposition’s legislation committee comprising legal experts will review the bills presented by the government. It will suggest strategy to challenge the bills in courts. It will also review government bills including electoral reforms, voting right to overseas Pakistanis, amendments to National Accountability Ordinances and other laws.
