Screening of myopia (near sightedness) of children in connection with the weekly screening camp in connection of the World Sight Day has diagnosed vision disorders in 20% of the children in Lahore’s school.


College of Ophthalmology and Allied Vision Sciences Mayo Hospital Lahore organized a camp for the children of the primary section of Government Central Model School Lower Mall Lahore in which experts diagnosed vision disorders in 20% of the children of the school.


Among the various types of vision disorders, myopia (near sightedness) was the most common, which was 61.7% of total vision disorders. Hypermetropia was found in 14% of children while 24.3% of children were diagnosed with astigmatism.


Principal Syeda Nuzhat Shabbir while appreciating the basic diagnosis of vision, awareness and training about the causes and prevention of myopia to all the teachers of the primary section, expressed his determination that the teachers should play their role in the treatment of blindness in the society along with the ophthalmologists. will be able to. In addition, free glasses were provided to children by Mayo Hospital.


This initiative is an important step for the improvement of children's health and education and it is also expected to improve the academic performance of children. Principal Prof. Dr. Muhammad Moin College of Ophthalmology and Allied Vision Sciences/Meo Hospital said that they will continue to organize such screening camps in the future to protect the vision of more children. In addition, they will go to various schools and educate children and teachers about vision protection.
