Parliamentary leaders have expressed concern over the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) failure to decide the fate of the seats reserved for women and minorities in the light of the Election Amendment Bill, 2024, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Sources told 24News TV channel that in a letter to the National Assembly (NA) Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, they have requested the latter to ask the ECP to take decision in this regard as early as possible.
Following their letter, sources disclosed, the speaker had written yet another letter to the election commission, in which he urged the latter to decide the fate of these seats at the earliest so that all ambiguities could be removed and the parliament could become fully functional to do legislation for the welfare of the masses.
The speaker had written the first letter on September 19, 2024.
