The 66th National Weightlifting Championship and the 6th Women's National Weightlifting Championship have officially begun in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Wednesday.
According to the channel report, 75 male and 61 female weightlifters affiliated with the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation are participating in the championships.
The four-day event was inaugurated by the President of Pakistan Weightlifting Federation, Hafiz Imran Butt, at the Burt Institute Wedding Hall in Lahore.
In the 55 kg category, Haider Salman from the Pakistan Army claimed the gold medal by lifting a total weight of 230 kg.
Subhan Ali from Punjab secured second place with a 192 kg lift, while Pakistan Railways' Muhammad Kamran took the third position with a lift of 188 kg.
