SC orders due protection to women in obtaining inherited property

Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued a written order after hearing a case regarding provision of share to sisters in property according to sharia laws, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa wrote the judgment. The SC said it was need of the hour that government should be given due protection to women while women are denied due share in ancestral property.


CJP Qazi Faiz Isa said unfortunately, women are deprived of inherited right and in this regard, some lawyers unluckily facilitate male members in depriving women of their sharia right. The court imposed a fine of Rs5 lakh is the petitioner for baseless litigation against sisters. Moreover, the court ordered that fine recovered from petitioner should be paid to sisters deprived of inheritance.
