The Punjab government has decided to take action against those Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) officers appointed in the province earlier joined hands and raised voice against the government's policy of appointing CPPO Lahore Omer Sheikh against the wished of then IGP Punjab Shoaib Dastgir, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Wednesday.
It is pertinent to note that several PSP officers appointed in Punjab amid the unusual standoff in police top hierarchy gathered at IGP's office Tuesday and expressed distrust in the government's decision and visibly stood side by side with the then IGP Shoiab Dastgir. The gathering was a solidarity show with the then IGP against the appointment of the CCPO Lahore.
Sardar Usman Buzdar led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Punjab government had now decided to surrender the services of these PSP officers and they may also face departmental action as well in the next few days, the TV channel reported.
On Tuesday PTI federal and Punjab government visibly chose Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Omer Sheikh in comparison to Inspector General of Police Punjab Sohaib Dastgir, who removed from his post and has been given the portfolio of Federal Secretary Ministry of Narcotics Control.
The government also appointed Allah Dino Khowaja, Federal Secretary Ministry of Narcotics Control as a Federal Ombudsman Member.
