Pakistan Customs Friday seized goods worth over Rs60 million brought from Dubai at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to Customs authorities, the staff deployed on arrival took action and recovered the consignment from 4 passengers travelling on Air Blue’s flight A111.
They further said that seized items include laptops, valuable mobile phones, iPads, computer RAM, valuable watches and cigarettes, among other items.
One of the detained passengers introduced himself as a former member of the National Assembly, which turned out to be fake.
The officials said a case has been registered against the arrested passengers and remand has been obtained from the concerned court.
The protocol for the detained passengers was arranged by a Superintendent of Customs named Azhar Alimi who is in charge of the HRD department of Model Customs Collectorate Airport.
On the basis of suspicion, the customs staff passed the goods through the scanning machine.
Customs constable Ashiq Hussain was in charge of the protocol and under his supervision, foreign liquor has also been recovered earlier.
