More restrictions were being imposed in Mardan on Wednesday to tighten the lockdown that started from the Manga area where the first death in the country due to the coronavirus was reported.

It is not just the urban areas as the people in Katlang, Rustam and Takht Bai are also experiencing a complete lockdown.

According to DPO Sajjad Khan, another 14 check posts have been established at the city’s entry points and the citizens must follow the restrictions imposed under Section 144.

All public places except the essential services have been shut down with a blanket ban on public transport and pillion riding.

Earlier on Saturday, the Manga Union Council of Mardan became the top locality in terms of concentration of the coronavirus patients, as the figures released by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health DG showed that 79 people had so far been infected by the virus.
