FJMU achieves another milestone in field of medicine

Fatima Jinnah Medical University has officially received approval from the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council for its postgraduate programs (MS/MD/MPhil) in both basic and clinical sciences.

To mark this significant achievement, a meeting of the Deans Committee, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, was held. During the meeting, the committee congratulated the Registrar, faculty, and administration of Fatima Jinnah Medical University on this success. FJMU is recognized as one of the leading universities in Punjab, and the approval of its postgraduate programs by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council further solidifies its reputation.

The approved MPhil programs at Fatima Jinnah Medical University/Sir Ganga Ram Hospital include Anatomy, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Pharmacology, and Physiology. The MD programs include Psychiatry, Dermatology, General Medicine, Nephrology, Neurology, Pediatrics, Preventive Pediatrics, and Radiology. The MS programs include Anesthesia, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, ENT, Urology, and General Surgery.

Similarly, the Government Teaching Hospital Shahdara’s MS programs include Urology, and the MD programs include Medicine, Pediatrics, and Nephrology.

Additionally, 36 postgraduate programs at Fatima Jinnah Medical University/Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and 8 postgraduate programs at Government Teaching Hospital Shahdara are approved by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.

This milestone highlights FJMU's commitment to excellence in medical education and research. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the university’s talented faculty and staff. This achievement will help provide high-quality education and training to future medical professionals, paving the way for their professional growth and contributing to the advancement of healthcare in Pakistan.

Fatima Jinnah Medical University envisions a future where it continues to lead in medical research, addressing major healthcare challenges, and advancing education by incorporating the latest developments in medical training. On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Professor Khalid Masood Gondal expressed the university’s commitment to improving public health through hard work, dedication, and partnerships with international medical institutions. He also mentioned that the university will soon bring a revolution in healthcare by establishing a new department of Artificial Intelligence, which will include a Telemedicine subdivision and a Skills Lab.

Professor Khalid Masood Gondal thanked and acknowledged the faculty for their role in helping FJMU to achieve this milestone. He emphasized that together, they look forward to innovation, excellence, and a bright future in the field of medical sciences.
