The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday took notice of violations of its code of conduct and served a show-cause notice to Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan and PML-Q’s Chaudhary Saleem Baryar, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The ECP District Monitoring Officer sought response from both politicians within two days.
Firdous Ashiq Awan announced a development package for the NA-75 at a news conference, while Muadassar Saleem Baryar who is the senior vice-president of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) Punjab chapter, also announced a development package worth Rs50 million during a visit to the NA-75 Daska constituency on April 9.
Earlier on Saturday, the ECP served a notice on PML-N MPA Zeeshan Rafique for violating its code of conduct on the polling day in NA-75.
It has been reported that PTI workers stopped the vehicle of the MPA Zeeshan Rafique and chanted slogans against the legislator.
The District Election Commissioner has sought an explanation from the MPA.
The ECP notice was issued to PML-N MPA for visiting a polling station amid the polling process.
The ECP had banned the entry of all elected representatives in NA-75 Daska during the by-election.
The nail-biting contest mainly was between candidates of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Syed Nosheen Iftikhar and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Ali Asjad Malhi.
