The Supreme Court has reserved its verdict on the withdrawal of curative review petition against Justice Qazi Faez Isa by the federal government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial took up the case on Monday at his chamber in the Supreme Court.
Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Awan appeared before CJP Bandial at his chamber. Advocate on Record Anees Ahmad also appeared before the CJP at his chamber on behalf of federal government and Federal Board of Revenue.
On April 26, 2021, the Supreme Court threw out review petitions against Justice Isa, terming them “invalid”.
The previous PTI government had filed a curative review petition against Justice Isa on behalf of President Dr Arif Alvi.
However, the present PDM government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking withdrawal of curative review petition against the judge.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently ordered the authorities concerned not to pursue the curative review petition. He asked them to withdraw the petition from the Supreme Court.
On June 23, 2022, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar had made a statement suggesting taking back the curative review petition, which his predecessor Dr Farogh Naseem had moved before the Supreme Court against Justice Isa.
