Singer and actor Ali Zafar has participated in the initiative of PM Imran Khan and planted trees for climate change.
PM Imran Khan on Saturday said he wanted everyone to join him on August 9 in planting trees all over Pakistan with the target of 3.5 million trees in a day.
Taking to Twitter, Ali Zafar shared two pictures and wrote: “This tree we planted is now this big. Today we planted more. Let’s all do our bit to give a clean green future to our children. #10BillionTreeTsunami,” Ali Zafar captioned his pictures on Twitter.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the largest tree plantation drive in the history of Pakistan as the ruling party commemorates August 9 as 'Tiger Force Day'.
Addressing a ceremony organised in Islamabad on Sunday to launch the drive, he urged the people to take part in the tree plantation campaign across the country, saying Pakistan is the sixth most affected country by climate change in the world.
“It is the responsibility of everyone to make country green for our coming generations,” he said.
The premier said many of the areas in the country will turn into the desert which will lead to poverty if we did not take measures to overcome the effects of climate change.
“I want to congratulate Tiger Force that they planted 3.5 million plants in one day which is the highest number in the country’s history,” he added.
