Pakistan records 539 new virus cases; 15 more deaths

The coronavirus in Pakistan continued to remain under control as the country reports only 539 new cases Monday in the past 24 hours (Sunday), the latest data from the National Command and Control (NCOC) shows.

The total coronavirus cases now stand at 284, 649 with 516 more people recovered from the coronavirus during the last 24 hours. This has taken the total number of recovered people to 260,764. 

According to the portal, the number of critical patients has been reduced to 776. There are only 17,799 active cases in the country. It means 91.6% patient who contracted coronavirus have fully recovered so far.

The country also recorded 15 more fatalities over the last 24 hours, taking the overall death tally to 6097. The death ratio in the country stands at 2.1%.

Punjab has recorded only 117 new coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours, according to the government's Covid-19 portal, taking the provincial tally to 94,477 with 6034 active cases. The province also recorded only one new death as death toll stands at 2,170. With 7 new recoveries, 86,273 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.

Sindh has recorded 303 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the provincial tally to 123,849 with 5836 active cases. The province also recorded 10 new deaths, taking the death toll to 2,272. With 326 new recoveries, 115,741 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded 57 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 34,692 with 1849 active cases. The province also reported one new death, taking the death toll to 1,231. With 70 new recoveries, 31,612 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.

Balochistan has recorded 22 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 11, 906 with 1396 active cases. It was one new death, the death toll reaches at 138. With 46 new recoveries, 10,372 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.

Islamabad has recorded 20 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 15,261 with 2,121 active cases. It was the second consecutive day that no death was reported in the Federal Capital as virus death toll remains at 171. With 55 new recoveries, the number of recovered patients remains at 12,969 in the federal capital so far.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir has recorded seven new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 2,141 with 200 active cases. With no new death reported for the second consecutive day, the death toll remains at 58. There was no new recovery in the AJK as 1,883 patients have recovered so far from the virus.

Gilgit Baltistan has recorded 13 new cases during the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 2334 with 363 active cases. With two new deaths reported, the death toll reaches at 57. With 12 new recoveries, 1,914 patients have recovered from the virus so far.

The number of tests administered across the country has now increased to 2,147,5846 as 20,495 new tests were conducted on Sunday.
