Saudi Arabia Ambassador to Pakistan Mr Nawaf Saeed Al-Malkiy called on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday, said ISPR.
According to the military’s media wing, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation and bilateral defence relations between the two brotherly countries came under the discussion during the meeting.
The meeting held after Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi criticised Saudi Arab-led OIC to not calling its meeting on Kashmir.
Qureshi criticises Saudi Arab
Couple of days ago, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi asked Saudi Arabia-led Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to stop dilly-dallying on the convening of a meeting of its Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) on Kashmir.
Appearing in a talk show, the foreign minister said: “I am once again respectfully telling OIC that a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers is our expectation. If you cannot convene it, then I’ll be compelled to ask Prime Minister Imran Khan to call a meeting of the Islamic countries that are ready to stand with us on the issue of Kashmir and support the oppressed Kashmiris.”
On Friday, Shah Mahmood Qureshi cast aside the idea that there is any ill will between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, however noting that he had been persuading the oil-producing country's officials to call a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) over the Kashmir issue for a year.
