The Punjab Caretaker Cabinet has approved to recruit 6,000 nurses to meet the acute shortage of nurses in the province, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
While presiding over the 22nd Provincial Cabinet meeting at the CM office on Wednesday, Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi also issued orders to complete the recruitment process of nurses as soon as possible.
The cabinet meeting decided to start a mega program of cleanliness and sanitation in the villages of Punjab through Rural Union Councils.
Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi will inaugurate the program on August 14 and he also issued directions to set up an effective strategy to make the program successful. In this regard, Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi rejected the proposal to collect fees from the residents of rural areas.
The meeting approved the admission policy of public medical and dental colleges for the current financial year.
The cabinet also acquiesced to forming a ministerial committee for test procedures and regulations for admission to medical and dental colleges.
The caretaker ministers also gave their consent to establish the new Board of Management for Dera Ghazi Khan Medical College.
The meeting also took a decision to hand over the management of Rawalpindi Institute of Urology to Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute.
The ministers also consented to include the Lady Willingdon Hospital reconstruction scheme in the annual development program.
They gave their nod to the amendments in Punjab Drugs Rules 2007.
The cabinet approved the establishment of a university in Gujranwala and also okayed the project’s inclusion in the annual development program of the current financial year of Punjab.
The ministers approved to form Chief Minister's Task Force on Forests and Wildlife.
The sitting consented to the “Drainage System Rehabilitation Program” in Faisalabad city, and the construction of a public park on the old vegetable market land near Babar Cinema Faisalabad.
The cabinet approved of the inclusion of Mauza Syedwana in the Sargodha Development Authority limits.
It okayed the reconstitution of the Punjab Film Censor Board too.
The meeting allowed issuing of Rs 2.18 billion for the program "Spire" (Actions to Strengthen Performance for Inclusive and Responsive Education) of the Department of Schools Education.
The ministers agreed to re-issuance of funds worth Rs16.77 for 19 projects being initiated with the cooperation of various international development partners.
The cabinet went along with amendments to Police Rules 1934 to improve the system of training of ASIs and Sis.
Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the Punjab Cabinet regarding the visit to Uzbekistan. Mohsin Naqvi said that it was agreed with the ministers and senior officials of Uzbekistan to increase cooperation in the field of agriculture, especially seed development.
The decisions of the 4th meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Legal Affairs and Privatization, the 6th meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Finance and Development, and the 9th meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Law and Order were approved in the meeting.
Provincial Ministers, Advisors, Chief Secretary, IGP, and concerned officials attended the meeting.
