Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday ordered to upgrade police stations in Islamabad to smart police stations, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Mohsin Naqvi presided over the review meeting regarding the progress on the upgrading of police stations in Islamabad.
Addressing the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi said that traditional police stations have become a symbol of fear and the complainant thinks many times before coming.
“I myself have visited the police stations and the plight seen is indescribable”, Mohsin Naqvi said.
Islamabad is the face of Pakistan and to make Islamabad a world-class city, smart policing has to be moved without delay, Mohsin Naqvi added.
He said government will give all possible resources for smart police station.
Mohsin Naqvi said well behaved and educated police officers will be posted in smart police stations.
Under the phased programme, police stations will be upgraded and converted into smart police stations, Mohsin Naqvi said.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed to implement the plan soon and standard design should be developed with low cost for upgradation.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi further directed to identify land for police stations established in other buildings.
There will be no compromise on merit for Islamabad Police recruitment and fit, educated and meritorious youth will be recruited in all respects, Mohsin Naqvi said.
Interior Minister said a positive change is also necessary in the attitude of the police towards the complainants.
The meeting was attended by Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Ali Agha, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa, DIG Operations and senior officials.
