Refuting reports of former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan striking a ‘deal’ with the establishment, PTI stalwart and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) Omar Ayub Khan said on Saturday that 2024 was the ‘election year’, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking to the media at an anti-terrorism court in Lahore, he stressed the need for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to be independent.
He said the government, which was not a representative of the people and was a product of Form-47, could not do anything, adding it was only a prime minister, enjoying the backing of the people, who could steer the country out of crises.
What a tragedy, the PTI leader lamented, that electricity prices had once again been increased by Rs2.50 per unit.
Elite Force personnel pose for selfies with Omar
Surprisingly, the Elite Force personnel, present at the court premises on the occasion, posed for selfies with the leader of the opposition, which prompted the latter to say to them, “Please be careful, you may lose your jobs because of this.”
The personnel, however, asked him not to worry since they did not think any action would be taken against them.
