A resolution has landed in the Punjab Assembly to pay tribute to Pakistan’s Olympic hero Arshad Nadeem after he won a gold medal in javelin finals, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
PML-N MPA Hina Pervaiz Butt submitted the resolution at the Punjab Assembly Secretariat on Saturday.
The text says that the son of Punjab has made a new javelin record at the Paris Olympics and his countrymen proud by winning the gold medal.
This house extends congratulations and pay tribute to Arshad Nadeem, the text added.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a reward of Rs100 million for Arshad Nadeem, saying ahead of the Independence Day Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal and gave a gift to the nation,
Maryam further said that on behalf of the nation, we are thanking Arshad Nadeem by awarding him.
Maryam Nawaz also announced construction of a sports city in Mian Channue which will be called Arshad Nadeem Sports City.
On Friday, the National Assembly unanimously approved a resolution to bestow javelin champion Arshad Nadeem with civil honour.
The resolution, presented during the NA session, praised Nadeem’s remarkable achievement in the javelin throw event, where he set an Olympic record with a throw of 92.97m, securing Pakistan’s first Olympic gold in 40 years. The house commended Nadeem for his dedication and resilience, emphasising that a lack of resources did not deter his path to success.
The resolution further recommended that the President Asif Ali Zardari bestow a civil award upon Arshad Nadeem in recognition of his extraordinary accomplishment.
The resolution passed with unanimous support, reflecting the nation’s pride in Nadeem’s historic victory at the Paris Olympics.
