Secretary General of Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha arrived in Islamabad on Saturday on a head of a five-member delegation, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Hissein Brahim Taha will stay in Pakistan for three days. The OIC chief is visiting at the invitation of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
During his three-day visit, the OIC secretary general will call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and hold delegation-level meeting with the foreign minister to discuss issues on the agenda of the OIC including Jammu and Kashmir, Islamophobia and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
The OIC chief will also visit Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The secretary general's visit will enable exchange of views on how the OIC can galvanize itself further to deliver on the aspirations of 1.9 billion Muslims that it represents.
On May 16, 2022, OIC General Secretariat expressed deep concern over India’s attempts to redraw the electoral boundaries of the IIOJK altering the demographic structure of the territory and violating the rights of the Kashmiri people.
The OIC in a strongly worded statement condemned the Indian illegal move in IIOJK which is an internationally accepted disputed territory. The “delimitation” exercises are in direct contravention of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and international law, including the 4th Geneva Convention.
