Smog continues to create issues for the people of Lahore as with the air quality index (AQI) 226, the provincial capital was ranked as the most polluted city in the world on Sunday after Bangladeshi capital Dhaka where the AQI stood at 237.
The AQI over The Mall was recorded at 400, 382 over the US Consulate, and 367 over the DHA Phase-8.
Minimum temperature in the Punjab capital was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius while it was expected to go up to 23 degrees Celsius later in the day.
The humidity level in the air in the morning was recorded at 87 per cent, while breeze was blowing at the speed of 5.5 kilometers per hour.
The Met Office, on the other hand, said the weather would remain dry in the city and its suburbs during the next 24 hours.
Fog prompts closure of sections of motorway in Punjab
Different sections of the motorway had to be closed in Punjab on Sunday morning on account of fog, creating inconvenience for the motorists.
M-2, from Lahore to Sheikhupura, section of the motorway from Lahore to Sialkot, and M5 from Zahir Pir to Uch Sharif, were closed after visibility dropped considerably due to fog.
Motorists had to look for alternate routes to get to their destinations.
