Federal cabinet likely to extend NATO supplies agreement

Prime Minister Imran Khan has convened a meeting of the federal cabinet on Tuesday.

According to the sources, the cabinet meeting would take up a 14-point agenda, including extension in an agreement allowing NATO supplies through Pakistan. Extension in the Pakistan-US cargo transit is also part of the agenda. Under the agreement, American cargo services could go to Afghanistan and come back from there through Pakistan. In this regard, the Defence Ministry would present a summary to the cabinet for approval.

Sources say the federal cabinet would approve release of results of the six census. It would be given a briefing about an international conference on Afghan refugees that will take place in Islamabad on February 17-18. A summary about import of statues from India is also part of the 14-point agenda that will come under discussion at the cabinet meeting. A summary would also be presented to the federal cabinet on amendment to the Import and Export Policy Order 2016. The cabinet would be briefed about the investment scenario and approve appointment of the administrator of the Human Organ Transplant Authority. The cabinet meeting would approve the decisions taken by the Economic Coordination Committee at its meetings on January 20 and February 4. The cabinet would approve the decisions taken by the Privatisation Committee at its meeting on February 4. The cabinet would approve Hajj Policy 2020 and review the prevailing political and economic situation in the country.
