The circular debt of the power sector Thursday reached the highest level of Rs2,476 billion in the tenure of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), beating all the records of the past, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the 40 months rule of PTI-led government, the circular debt has increased by Rs1,328 billion.
As per sources, from the month of July to December in 2021, the circular debt has increased by Rs196 billion. During this period, the circular debt increased by Rs32.50 per month on an average basis, the sources said.
The sources said that in August 2018 the circular debt of the power sector was at Rs1,148 billion, which reached Rs2,476 billion in December, last year.
As per sources, from the independence of Pakistan to August 2018, the circular debt was at Rs1,148 billion.
