A huge fire that broke out at a paper mills in Kasur Wednesday evening was still out of control as over 17 hours have passed, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Two workers were killed and several others were injured in the massive fire that swept through the Bulleh Shah Paper Mills in Kasur and was still raging.
Initially, eight fire tenders were involved in the firefighting process but now their number has increased as vehicles were called in from Lahore and Okara to join the operation to douse the inferno.
According to 24News TV channel, 13 fire brigade vehicles and 60 firefighters were busy in operation to bring the fire under control. Special snorkels were also involved in the operation.
Rescue officials said that the fire broke out in the warehouse of the paper mills which also engulfed the adjoining warehouse. They said every effort was being made to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the factory where chemicals were stored.
According to eyewitnesses, a short circuit caused the fire, which burnt down the entire fencing department.
According to the Kasur deputy commissioner, vehicles called for extinguishing the fire have arrived from Lahore and Okara and have joined the operation.
As many as 15 labourers were injured, one seriously, in the incident and were shifted to hospital. The deceased have been identified as Amjad Kamboh of Kot Radha Kishan and Maqsood of Lahore.
DG Rescue Punjab Dr Rizwan also visited the site and reviewed the arrangements and rescue operation. He said that it may take two days to bring the fire under control which has spread to a vast shed of the paper mills.
