Heavy snowfall and poor visibility severely affected life in Murree as water supply in Lower Bazar has been cut off for 10 days, reported 24NewsHD TV on Monday.
The power system was disrupted due to the collapse of a snow-covered tree. In heavy snowfall, trees fell and power poles were uprooted from the ground. While the Army rescuers cleared the snow from the main highway.
Due to the incompetence of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and the administrator of the highway department, tourists and locals faced such a big tragedy.
On the other side, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) submits a requisition to convene Punjab Assembly that demands discussions on several issues including the Murree tragedy, funding and fertilizer shortage.
The requisition has the signatures of all PML-N Punjab MPAs.
The requisition demanded a discussion on the Murree tragedy, foreign funding and fertilizer shortage.
A meeting of the Punjab Assembly must be convened within 14 days after the requisition.
Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM) has filed an adjournment motion on the Murree tragedy.
The adjournment motion has been submitted to the National Assembly Secretariat said that it was the government's responsibility to reach the tourists trapped in the blizzard and bring them back safely.
Relevant institutions failed to fulfil their responsibilities, stated the adjournment motion.
The adjournment motion said that dozens of people died due to the incompetence of institutions.
The tragedy of Murree should be discussed in the House, added the adjournment motion
