Different sections of motorways were closed as dense fog blanketed the plains of Punjab again, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
According to the motorways police, Motorway (M-2) was closed from Thokar Niaz Baig to Kot Momin.
Motorway (M-3) was closed from Faizpur to Darkhana, and Motorway (M-4) was also closed from Multan to Pindi Bhattian due to heavy fog.
Motorway (M-5) was closed from Sher Shah to Zahir Peer, and Motorway (M-11) was also closed from Mehmood Booti to Sambrial for all types of traffic.
The motorways police spokesperson advised the motorists to use the front and rear fog lights.
He also advised them to avoid unnecessary travel.
“Avoid speeding and keep a proper distance from other vehicles on roads,” he added.
The Ring Road and Eastern Bypass in Lahore were also closed due to fog.
Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr Assad Malhi appealed to the citizens to be careful while driving.
“There will be an unusual load of traffic on the entry and exit points of the city,” the city traffic police said.
The CTO also advised the motorists to park their vehicles on the left side of the road in case of any emergency.
“Avoid taking your hands and mouth out of the moving vehicle,” he said.
“Citizens can call helpline 15 for guidance and assistance. They will be kept informed about fog through Rasta App and FM 88.6,” he added.
