The Chairman of the Punjab Board Committee has announced to separate the examination papers for Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies for the 9th and 10th grades (Secondary School Certificate), reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

Under the new directive, starting from the upcoming academic session 2025, students of the 9th grade will undergo a dedicated examination for Islamic Studies, consisting of a 100-mark paper.

Simultaneously, students in the 10th grade will face a separate 100-mark examination solely dedicated to Pakistan Studies.

The examination of these subjects (Islamic Studies and Pak Studies carrying 100 marks each is conducted in two parts i.e. 9' & 10" examinations and each part carries 50 marks.

The decision will apply to the Class 9th examination in 2025.

Nowadays, a student has to attempt nine subjects in one part.

A proposal about conducting a paper on Islamist (Compulsory) and Pakistan Studies (Compulsory) SSC level separately for 100 marks in each part instead of both parts of the SSC examination was deliberated by the Punjab Boards Committee Chairperson which has been approved by the Punjab government.

The approval would reduce the cumulative number of papers from 09 to 08 (Part-1 and Part-11 each) for the candidates of the Secondary School Certificate examination.

Controller of Examinations Lahore Education Board has issued a letter to the Punjab Textbook Board directing it to prepare the books of Islamic Studies and Pak Studies separately from next year following the new decision.
