Flights diverted as thick fog closes Lahore Airport

Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA) remained closed on Friday morning due to dense fog which reduced the visibility to just 50 meters forcing the authorities to divert all the flights which were scheduled to land at the Lahore airport to Islamabad International Airport, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

All the planes were facing lot of difficulties while landing at the Lahore Airport. A Saudi Arabian Airlines flight SV-738 who was scheduled to land at Lahore Airport and a Qatar Airways flight QR-620 were also diverted for Islamabad Airport.

An Etihad Airways flight AY-284 which was coming from Abdu Dhabi were also denied permission to land at the Lahore airport due to thick fog and low visibility. 

The captains of the airport after making several rounds of the airport and repeated attempts to land forced to divert their flights.
