Dense fog has covered the parts of Punjab prompting National Highways and Motorways police to close M 4 and M11 Motorways to ensure public safety, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to Motorway Police spokesperson visibility issues forced the closure of Motorway 11 from Lahore to Sialkot. Motorway Police spokesperson said motorways were closed to ensure safe travel for the public.

Likewise M4 Motorway has also been closed from Lahore to Jaranwala interchange amid low visibility.

Motorway police have advised motorists to prioritise travel during daylight hours, particularly between 10 am and 6 pm, during foggy weather conditions. Drivers were also urged to use fog lights for both front and rear visibility, avoid unnecessary travel, maintain appropriate distances from other vehicles, and reduce speed. Authorities highlighted that the measures were aimed at reducing accidents caused by the dense fog, which is common in Punjab during winter.

Meanwhile, National Highways and Motorways Police has expanded its campaign’s reach to sensitize motorists traveling on motorways in the dense fog situation and shared video messages in various regional languages to ensure safety of the public property and lives. Motorways Police has advised travellers to keep their vehicles’ fog lights on along with double indicators for the entire journey on highways and motorways where fog had disrupted visibility level.
