Balochistan health department has declared a health emergency in the Aranji area of tehsil Wadh, District Khuzdar in light of the recent outbreak of acute watery diarrhea.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the provincial health department is taking all measures with the help of different departments, partner organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to control gastroenteritis.

A large number of patients with vomiting and motion complaints are being rushed to the district headquarters hospital and basic health units. However, on account of the limited resources available, patients did not get treated properly.

The scorching wave of heat, lack of basic facilities, and contaminated water in the far-flung areas of the province are the main reason for the outbreak of epidemics all the time.

The department has put all the hospitals in Khuzdar on alert.

These facilities have been provided with medicines and necessary equipment to deal with the menace.

Balochistan Director General Health Dr. Noor Muhammad Qazi is supervising the relief work in the gastro-affected area in the Aranji area of Wadh Tehsil of Khuzdar.

Medical teams along with doctors and medicines have been sent to the affected areas, he said. "Teams have been dispatched from Quetta and Lasbela to the affected areas," Dr Noor Qazi said.

He said that three people have died of acute watery diarrhea in the Aranji area so far and more than a dozen are infected.

A control room has also been established in the office of D Health in Quetta, he said, adding that one team includes specialist doctors and paramedical staff while the other team includes public health specialists dispatched to Khuzdar.
