The seemingly hilarious and harmless sport of Slap kabaddi Sunday claimed a life in Toba Tek Singh during a match, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In the Hunal Kundal fair held in Chak 506 of Toba Tek Singh, a 42-year-old wrestler named Zakir Hussain, who was a resident of Pakpattan, fainted during a Slap kabaddi match after being hit by his competitor.

Hussain fell on the ground after being slapped on the chest a number of times from his competitor. The Slap Kabaddi match was held in a suburban village which was far from the city and there was no hospital or Rescue center nearby. Zakir fainted after the bashing and died before he could be taken to the hospital as it was far and the rescue team reached the spot late.

The natives tried to take Zakir to the Hospital in a car but a local doctor declared him dead before they reached the medical center. Rescue 1122 shifted the player in the ambulance on the way.

The Slap Kabaddi matches are held in Toba Tek Singh annually and this was the first ever case of a player’s death.
