NEC meeting two days before budget unreasonable: Murad Ali Shah
June 10, 2020 07:22 PM
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah Wednesday said convening the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting just two days before the budget is unreasonable.
He questioned why NEC meeting was convened when provinces have finalized their fiscal budgets.
“PM can convene 40 to 50 person cabinet meeting but cannot call the NEC meeting,” he said. “As per law, two meetings per year must be held but so far in the entire two years only two meetings were held of NEC.”

Few people are misguiding the Prime Minister, he added. He said Sindh must not be considered as Islamabad’s colony.
“I received the message at the airport that PM wants the NEC meeting via video link,” Murad Ali Shah said.
“NEC should not be made a joke. I was told that if I reach Islamabad, even then I would not be able to attend the NEC meeting.”
He informed that 2487 new cases of coronavirus have reported in Sindh.
Murad Ali Shah said that 27.3 percent results came back positive out of 9100 total tests conducted in the last 24 hours and that is very dangerous.
