An 850 per cent increase in the development budget for the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has been proposed.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, sources said a budget of Rs65.617 billion is suggested for SUPARCO for the upcoming fiscal year.
In the current fiscal year, SUPARCO's development budget was allocated Rs 6.90 billion.
The proposed allocations include Rs59.1837 billion for the Pakistan Multi-Mission Communication Satellite System (PakSat-1), Rs4.1853 billion for the establishment of the Pakistan Space Center, and Rs1.35 billion for the Pakistan Optical Remote Sensing Satellite.
Additionally, Rs248 million is proposed for the feasibility and system definition study of PakSat-2, and Rs650 million for the Deep Space Astronomical Observatories.
The budget also included the initiation of a new project for SUPARCO.
