PM Shehbaz Sharif vows to crush terrorism in country

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday attended Namaz-e-Janaza (funeral prayer) of Army Captain Faraz Ilyas who was martyred in a terrorist attack in District Lakki Marwat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying his government was committed to crush terrorism in the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


Shaheed Faraz’s funeral prayer, which was held at Bedian Road in Lahore, was attended by a large number of senior military officers, ministers, civil authorities and local residents.


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met with the parents of the shaheed captain and expressed condolences. He told the parents that the sacrifice of their son would not go in vain and prayed for the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.


The prime minister shouldered the coffin of Captain Faraz and also attended his burial. He laid a floral wreath at the Shaheed’s grave and offered fateha.


Shehbaz Sharif informed media men that Captain Faraz’s nikah was going to be held on June 19.


The prime minister renamed the Rai Kalan village as Shaheed Captain Faraz Ilyas Village and also directed authorities to make it a model village.


Separately, in a post uploaded on X platform, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that he was deeply saddened by the martyrdom of Army personnel including a captain in a targeted attack in District Lakki Marwat. “The sacrifices of our brave soldiers and citizens is a debt on us that we must repay by relentlessly eliminating terrorism from our nation. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” he further posted.



In an earlier post, Shehbaz Sharif while reiterating the resolve to continue fighting against terrorism till its complete elimination, expressed his deep grief over shahadat of seven security personnel.


The prime minister prayed for the bereaved families to bear the losses with equanimity. He said that the entire nation saluted the law enforcement agencies for their services and unprecedented sacrifices and stood with the brave Jawans.


The prime minister also resolved to make terrorists accountable.


Earlier, the funeral prayers of seven security personnel including Captain Faraz Ilyas were offered in Bannu on Sunday night.


Corps Commander Peshawar, officers, jawans and a large number of people attended the funeral prayers.


Later, bodies of the martyrs were sent to their native areas for burial with full military honours.


Seven Pakistan Army soldiers including a captain were martyred when their vehicle was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) in Lakki Marwat on Sunday.


Those who were martyred included Captain Muhammad Faraz Ilyas (age: 26 years, resident of Kasur District) along with six other brave sons of the soil; Subedar Major Muhammad Nazir (age: 50 years, resident of; Skardu District), Lance Naik Muhammad Anwar (age: 34 years, resident of: Ghanchi district), Lance Naik Hussain Ali (age: 36 years, resident of: Ghizer district), Sepoy Asad Ullah (age: 33 years, resident of Multan district), Sepoy Manzoor Hussain (age: 27 years, resident of: Gilgit district), Sepoy Rashid Mehmood (age: 31 years, resident of Rawalpindi district).
