ECC approves Rs6.37 billion Ramazan Relief Package

Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh chaired a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Wednesday which approved Ramazan Relief Package 2021 worth Rs6.37 billion, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
As per Ramzan Relief Package 2021, the ECC recommended a subsidy on 19 essential commodities from 10 to 15 percent.
The ECC approved Rs10 subsidy on 10-kg flour sack and on daal mash and daal mung while a 20-kg bag of flour will be provided for Rs800. A subsidy of Rs40 per kg on sugar and Rs30 per kg on flour will be provided.
The TV channel reported that the ECC meeting approved a subsidy of Rs20 per kg on oil and Rs20 on besan (gram flour), Rs12 per kg on dates, Rs20 on basmati rice, Rs12 on broken rice, Rs50 on tea, Rs20 on milk, Rs25 per 1500 ml bottle and Rs20 per 800 ml bottle and 10 percent subsidy on spices under Ramazan package.
Ramazan Relief Package 2021 will be applicable from April 1.
Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh presided over the ECC meeting after a gap of over two weeks following his political engagements for Senate elections that he lost to Yousaf Raza Gilani.
The meeting approved the import of cotton and yarn from Afghanistan and Central Asian countries via Torkham border till June 30 2022.
The Ministry of Food Security and trade ministry will work on the cotton import. The ECC meeting allowed two fertilizer factories to work for nine months.
