A patrol of the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has caught a member of counterfeit currency gang in Bahawalpur, a handout said on Saturday.

SPOs Abdul Hameed and Farzana Kausar held Muhammad Ashfaq when he was fleeing after handing a fake Rs1000 to a shopkeeper, the handout added.

The patrol recovered counterfeit currency notes after frisking the accused. In the preliminary probe, he revealed that his three accomplices managed escape.

The accused was handed over the local police for further action. DIG Central Zone Ahmad Arslan Malik appreciated his team and announced commendatory certificates for them.
