34 cases of Covid-19 logged as new variant rings alarm bells

Despite the emergence of a case of a new sub-variant of Omicron in Pakistan yesterday, the overall situation of the pandemic is not bothersome so far as there was no fatality reported again on Tuesday and the infectivity ratio declined to 0.28% during last 24 hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the latest statistics provided by the National Health Institute of Pakistan, 10,869 coronavirus tests were conducted across the country during the last 24 hours out of which only 34 cases were diagnosed with the virus.

No casualty was reported and the infectivity ratio again remained low plummeting to 0.28%. However, as many as 103 patients were stated to be in critical condition.

On Monday, the first case of a new sub-variant of the Omicron was reported in Pakistan.

The NIH detected in Pakistan the first case of “Omicron sub-variant BA.2.12.1” the cases of which have been increasing in different countries.

The NIH advised citizens to adopt precautionary measures and got themselves vaccinated against the coronavirus and its variants.

As per the latest NIH data, the death toll has climbed up to 30,375, whereas the number of total infections now stood at 1,528,565 after adding the fresh 46 cases.
