The Punjab health department on Tuesday issued an advisory to keep children safe in view of the heatwave expected to grip the province, including the provincial capital, Lahore, in the next week, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The department asked schools’ heads to set up emergency helpline centers inside their institutions so that the children falling sick or losing consciousness on account of intense heat could be treated.
They were also directed to open their schools rather early so that the children could be kept from getting exposed to sunrays.
Similarly, the department asked them to end sport period as long as the heatwave persisted.
The management of these schools were also directed to make students sit in open and breezy classrooms rather than out in open or congested rooms.
