In his YouTube Programme titled Neutral with Javed Chaudhry, the name of Major General Zaheerul Islam Abbasi was wrongly maligned for being one of the sponsors of the PTI-led Dharna (sit-in) in 2014. The anchor repeatedly mentioned the name of Gen Zaheerul Islam Abbasi instead of former ISI chief Lt Gen) Zaheer-ul-Islam who has all along been accused of planning and executing the infamous PTI sit-in.
The wife of late Major General Zaheerul Islam Abbasi spoke to 24 News HD and expressed her anger at this serious mistake dragging her husband into the most negative incident of Pakistan’s political history.
She said she was trying to contact the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations to use his offices to rectify her grievance by contacting the concerned anchor.
She said she was shocked to see the name of her husband being mentioned over and over again for something that he was never part of adding that her late husband died on July 30, 2009, while the sit-in was organized by the PTI in 2014.
Mrs Abbasi said that it has been very painful for the family and relatives of her late husband that time and again his name was missed and maligned with such negative incidents. My late husband was an army officer of dignity and earned several awards for his dedicated services to Pakistan.
She went on to say that if the error was not corrected immediately, she would file a defamation suit against the said anchor.
