UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has strongly condemned the "heinous" terrorist attack that occurred on Saturday at Quetta’s Railway Station, calling for swift action to bring those responsible to justice.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, his spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, expressed the Secretary-General's sentiments in a statement shared with APP, saying, “We strongly condemn the terrorist attack in the city of Quetta that took place earlier today.”
The attack, which involved a suicide blast, led to the tragic loss of at least 26 lives, with 62 more people injured, according to local reports.
Extending his condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the people and Government of Pakistan, Guterres also wished a speedy recovery for those injured.
The Secretary-General’s statement concluded with a call for accountability, stating, “We hope that those responsible for this heinous attack will be held accountable.”
