The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Monday summoned the authorities concerned from provinces for consultation regarding delay in holding of local bodies and by-elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
As per the official sources, the ECP summoned the chief secretaries and the IGPs of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The ECP also summoned the interior secretary, defence secretary and director general military operations.
The ECP will take important decisions in its 2pm meeting tomorrow.
It is to be noted here that the government has pleaded with the ECP for a delay in local bodies and by-elections in the country.
ECP hears case against KP CM over code of conduct violation
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Monday heard a case of the election code of conduct against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The lawyer for the KP chief minister appeared before the ECP. “This case should be heard together with another case,” he demanded.
“You have been fined for continuous violations of the election code of conduct,” said the chief election commissioner.
“The case of DMO Charsadda and that of the election commission is the same. It is requested that both cases should be heard together,” the lawyer demanded.
“We will take an appropriate decision after looking into the matter,” said the chief election commissioner.
