A court on Monday sent Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf (PTI) founding member Hamid Zaman to jail on judicial remand, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) took PTI’s leader Hamid Zaman into custody from his office in Lahore last Friday in a case related to prohibited funding.

The FIA produced Zaman before the court of Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Murtaza on account of the charges against him on 08 October. The FIA pleaded with the court to grant the agency the PTI leader’s 14-day physical remand. However, the court granted the FIA a two-day physical remand of Zaman and directed the investigation officer to submit a progress report on the probe on October 10.

On Monday, the FIA official pleaded with the court to extend the PTI leader’s 02-day physical remand.  But, the court while rejecting FIA's plea for further physical remand ordered sending the leader to jail on judicial remand. The court also directed the FIA to present Hamid Zaman's challan.

It is pertinent that Hamid Zaman has contested elections from Shahdara, Lahore on PTI ticket.
